Understanding the Different Device Surfaces

Surface A

Surface A refers to the front housing of a device which is visible when looking directly at the device but is not part of the back housing

Surface A also refers to the fingerprint sensor if it exists

Surface AA

Surface AA refers to the display of a device in addition to all camera lenses.

Surface B

Surface B refers to the sides and back of a device housing. This includes

Housing sides, corners, and backs
Other visible parts such as sim tray cosmetic area, logos, battery cover, side keys, USB port area, headset port area, audio mesh, microphone holes, screws that are visible, and other visible surfaces (antenna, stylus, and bezels.)

Surface C

Surface C refers to internal components that are connectors under covers
